These roles are all about being the eyes and ears of the highway network, spotting issues early and helping ensure our local highways remain safe and reliable.

We are seeking practical, reliable team members to support the delivery of local highway maintenance activities across the state highway network.

These roles are focused on keeping the network safe, functional, and well-maintained through a combination of patrol work, planned maintenance (dig outs), and reactive response. Duties will vary depending on operational requirements, traffic demands, and seasonal priorities.

This is a hands-on role working outdoors in all conditions, supporting a range of activities that help keep the highway network operating safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on experience and operational needs, responsibilities may include:

  • Undertaking routine highway patrols and inspections
  • Identifying and reporting defects or hazards
  • Carrying out minor maintenance works (pothole repairs, drainage clearing, signage, vegetation control)
  • Assisting with traffic management and site safety set-up
  • Supporting response to incidents, weather events, or urgent network issues
  • Operating company vehicles, tools, and small plant
  • Working independently or as part of a small crew
  • Completing required records and documentation

    What We're Looking For

    We are looking for people who:

    • Have a strong work ethic and take pride in doing the job right
    • Are comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions
    • Can work safely both independently and within a team
    • Have a practical, hands-on approach
    • Hold a full Class 1 licence (Class 2 or higher advantageous)
    • Traffic management experience (STMS or TMO)
    • Have experience in roading, civil, construction, or highway maintenance
